I would like to thank all the staff for an exceptional help and friendly talks during my wife and my recent visit to Cooperstown Basset Hospital. My wife had a lumpectomy last Wednesday and was a very nice experience. Pre op. nurse Sara post op. nurse Michelle. Dr. Talbot (of course) and acu waiting room Barbra who went above and beyond our time there very nice and even joined in with us watching Game Show Network and laughing at some answers. they all were very helpful and attentive. thank you all for your help and kindness. Thank You All Very Very Much. Ashley D Gaugler

The surgical team is good as long as you are an out patient but the remainder of this hospital is horrible. It does not meet the standard for cleanliness by any stretch as there was dried blood in the recovery room the nurse tried to pass off as paint but was wiped away with disinfectant after we lost our minds about it. They took me up to the surgical recovery floor. The nurse I was assigned to, Kimberly was a nightmare. The worst disposition I have ever seen in a healthcare worker in my life. She clearly hates her job as I was not the only patient she treated poorly. Her personality was one big control freak and she made me feel unsafe while I was there. She spoke to me as though I were a child and made my time there miserable. The nurse assistant and I spoke of this and she tried to encourage me to report her as many patients complain about her but do nothing about it. I hope this is seen and my words are heard. Who you hire, matters. This woman isn’t even capable of working at an animal shelter

I had a long, tough surgery. Every single person from doctors to nurses, dietitians, and cleaners were amazing! How I felt was always addressed. The kindness within that facility family is rare. Each person made a positive impact on my recovery mind, body and soul. Loved the students learning, knowing they may be my saviors one day to. A 5 day stay with so much love around and belief in each other. Amazing people! My night nurse was Grace! Her name so fitting! So attentive n sweet. Thank you yo them all!

Terrible after all the years I have spent going to Bassett, having my children here, finding out I have a heart condition and now in the past couple years they have non-stop leaving doctors, nurses that are traveling in, you don’t ever get the same primary anymore as they’re just leaving one after another. They will now just send you to another hospital to have care or treatments, surgery ect. It’s become difficult to even deal with nurses with attitude as they don’t want to care for you they want to just send you somewhere else. I cannot count the number of times I have just been referred to another hospital because they’re incompetent. It’s sad honestly for being such a big hospital with all this supposed new medical equipment and treatments.

Stay away from the Bariatric program. If I left my care to them I would be permanently incapacitated. It took a year and a half of complaints and hospitalizations and ER visits to be diagnosed properly. They do not care about fixing things, only doing what's easiest for them. Go anywhere else.

The worse food ever . Kept my mom NPO over 72 hours. Restricted visits from family which violates nys health dept rules etc .... Horrible is only word I have for it. Got call from billing announcing mother was on isolation but no one on floor knew she was on isolation no cart or isolation gowns worn by staff until 24 hours later! Then had family mask for contact isolation when asked why they said never mind and removed isolation cart ! Very disappointing on every level.

The surgical recovery floor needs to be inspected. Blood dried on floors. Blood in bathroom and on room divider curtains. The nurse kimberly was absolutely evil to my poor wife. She also grabbed my wife’s purse and attempted to go thru it. When my wife took the purse back out of the nurses hand, Kimberly called security on my wife. My wife had only been out of surgery for 4 1/2 hours at that point nonetheless, my wife made a very wise decision to sign herself out of the hospital AMA. The Doctor Who came in to remove my wife’s NG tube literally ripped it out out of her nose after only allowing a small amount of air to escape the tube. We will be editing our review once my wife goes through her cell phone to find the videos and the pictures of not only the doctor and nurse, but the amount of blood that she lost after having the NG to removed. My wife then asked for a wash bin, hot water, and a washcloth to get all the dry blood off her face and hands before she left the hospital. She was literally given a urine catch to fill with water and wash up with. Yes, we also have pictures and a video of that, and the nurses that handed it to her are all in that video. We were absolutely mortified at the lack of care or compassion given to my wife following her surgery at this hospital. The surgery was two months ago, but my wife insisted we wait to post our review to make sure we weren’t being sensitive about the situation. Every single person we have spoken to about the situation Has told us we need to call the news station too. Make them aware of what happened to her at that hospital. When my wife sat on the bed crying with blood pouring out of her face, the nurse,, Kimberly, walked by the room and snicker at her as she stared at my wife crying. Yes, this is all on video. We did notify somebody at the hospital and they tried to cover it all up and act like it didn’t happen. When we told them we had video and pictures they never once asked to see them. Shame on you, Cooperstown Hospital. Do better. That’s why you’re ratings are so terrible.

Staff leaves patients who suffer with diabetes with no insulin as they don’t feel “comfortable” prescribing it to someone who has lived as a diabetic for 15+ years. I guess you can get your medicine you need to live, but only if you come to the ER where we will hold you for multiple days so we can charge your insurance a hefty bill! Joke of an institution, rude staff, and little to no regard for patient emergencies. Calling to get prescription's sent to pharmacy at least 2-3 times per week, just to be left waiting again and again. Never come here unless you want to be treated as a nuisance for having a disease.
