Truly lovely staff, fantastic stay start to finish. Check in was seamless, and I even texted the hotel in advance to see if my room was ready! The rooms are classically lovely, with free coffee and water and comfortable beds. The hotel uses Beekman bath products, an upstate NY product that smells lovely. Food in the banquet hall was fantastic, and the wait staff is just stellar. The grounds are lovely and the hotel is a few steps from "downtown" Cooperstown. I'm so happy I stayed here!

Went to a wedding there over the weekend. The staff that served food and drinks were pretty good. The furniture and rooms in this place are old and outdated and need to be updated. I’m so glad I didn’t stay in their overpriced rooms, they’re such a ripoff, they should be half the price. This place is far from a “resort”. The nicest thing about it is the view on the lake.

We just returned from an incredible stay at The Otesaga over July 4th weekend.||Every moment of our stay was incredible.||The front desk staff was warm and attentive. We didn't have to wait on a long check in line and were greeted with fresh water.||The amenities are incredible. The lakefront staffed helped us get in and out of kayaks and paddleboards with ease. It was so luxurious to be able to just wake up, throw something quick on, and get right into a kayak without any fuss. Even on a busy weekend, everything was so smoothly operated. Nothing beats that view of the lake- crystal clear, glimmering water. So clean and refreshing.||My family spent hours in the heated pool overlooking the lake. The view was incredible and there is attentive waitstaff who bring out food and drinks. There are also staff who lay out towels for you. The 4th of July Ice Cream Sundae Bar was such a nice touch. There was also face painting and balloon making from BJ the clown which made the weekend even more special. My kids were on Cloud 9!||Our room was spectacular and overlooking the lake. Everything was spotless and well maintained. My kids loved sitting on the windowsill overlooking the view. I am very picky about rooms and bathrooms and had absolutely not complaints. The ONLY con is that there was no refrigerator in our room which can be challenging with small children.||We had multiple delicious meals including the breakfast buffet and lunch at Hawkeye. All of our meals were delicious. We especially loved our pancakes, omelets, French fries, grilled cheese, mac and cheese, and the edamame dumplings!||I just want to reiterate how kind and helpful the staff was. It really made our experience easy and enjoyable.||My kids did not want to leave this hotel. We can't wait to visit again!

Wish someone had posted this before booking our reservation. I am torn on how to rate The Otesaga. Five stars for the pros, but one for the cons. I’ll average to three. PROS It is a beautiful property. Spectacular setting, tasteful and elegant decor, excellent plus service from every single employee. Attention to detail. Extremely clean. CONS If you go in the summer and you are looking, like we were, for a bucolic, restful getaway, be aware that it is impossible at The Otesaga. Cooperstown is THE mecca for nationwide baseball tournaments for 12-year-olds, all summer, every summer. The hotel is overrun with children, and they improvise baseball games on the lawn by the lake that the adults sometimes join. And they scream. And they screech. Non-stop. Everyday, as people understandably do in a sports game. It was fun to watch for fifteen minutes, but then the unrelenting screaming ALL AFTERNOON LONG gets to you. Forget sitting in the dreamy veranda. “Oh, but at 5:00 they move them to the front lawn,” according to the front desk. I can’t imagine those guests with lakeside rooms with that ruckus outside their window all day. We are lucky we couldn’t get one. Bottom line- You are in a deluxe, fancy, expensive baseball camp for kids all summer long. Could possibly consider a return in the fall season.

My wife and I got married at The Otesaga in August 2020 during the height of COVID. We recently returned for the first time in six years to celebrate our anniversary and her birthday. A family friend had given us a $250 Otesaga gift card as a wedding gift, and this was finally our first realistic opportunity to use it after years of living out of state and navigating the travel disruptions surrounding the pandemic (NYS had mandatory quarantine rules early in the pandemic) At checkout, we were informed that the gift card had expired under the resort’s five-year expiration policy. While I understand businesses have policies, this one was especially disappointing given the unique circumstances. The gift card was purchased during one of the most disruptive periods for travel in recent history, and we hoped the resort would make an exception. Unfortunately, after reaching out to management, our request was denied. What disappointed me most wasn’t the $250—it was the lack of flexibility and customer goodwill from a luxury resort for guests who chose to return to celebrate a special occasion at the place where they were married. A small gesture would have gone a long way. Overall, our experience left us feeling that policy mattered more than customer relationships, which was disappointing given the significance this property has in our lives. There are many wonderful luxury resorts throughout New York that value building long-term relationships with their guests, and unfortunately, we’ll be choosing one of those for our future anniversaries and special occasions instead.

One of the greatest vacations we've been on. The Otesaga Hotel and staff are wonderful. The Leather Stocking Golf course was one of the very best we've ever played. The meals were outstanding. I recommend this Resort to everyone.

I had an incredible experience at 1909 Steakhouse and can’t recommend it enough. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting, setting the tone for a great evening. Brian, the manager, truly stood out—he went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. It’s clear he takes pride in running a top-notch restaurant and making guests feel valued. Our server, Carla, was absolutely outstanding. She was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, making excellent recommendations and ensuring our drinks and meals were always just right. The food was just as impressive as the service. The crispy oysters were perfectly cooked with a great crunch and flavor, the dry-aged steak was rich, tender, and cooked to perfection, and the crab cake was packed with flavor and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. Every dish we tried exceeded expectations. Between the exceptional service and the amazing food, this place truly stands out. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-tier dining experience.

We had a wedding for our baby daughter . As what we expected, service was great , food was very delicious , of course the resort itself has amazing views… even though the weather was cold … everything went well .. we had a perfect wedding . So many thanks to everyone there , but special thanks to Taylor Austin (catering and conference services manager ). She has such a sweet smile w/ great and clear instructions during the whole wedding .Thanks!!! Thanks Brooke Tallman ( sales manager ) who helped my first daughter’s wedding on 2017 and my baby daughter ‘s wedding on 2026…
